Wood Grain

I’ve been seeing a lot of wood grain nails around lately, and I hadn’t attempted them yet, so I thought I’d give ‘em a go.  These were actually really fun to do, and I absolutely love the way they turned out!

I started with a base of OPI A-Piers to Be Tan, and then painted the lines on with a short striping brush and Essie Lady Godiva.  Lady Godiva is actually pretty sheer for a dark color (you’d need at least three coats to wear it on its own), and I think that worked in my favor here.  All of the imperfections just make them look more like real wood.

I think these are pretty fun, and they’re definitely close to fool-proof, so these might be good for any nail art beginners out there.  Let me know what you think and send me a link if you try them!

P.S. I might be doing a giveaway for my second blog-iversary at the end of February – so let me know what you’d like to see in there: indies, mainstream polishes, nail art supplies, etc.
