Purple Gradient

So sorry about the lack of posts this week!  But finals are over and my cold is (almost) gone, and I have a few exciting posts planned for the next few weeks.  I decided to celebrate with some simple nail art.  I’ve seen gradient nails everywhere lately, but I was inspired by a tutorial posted by Sammy over at The Nailasaurus (though I used a slightly different technique).  I especially love the yellow and taupe gradient she did.  I might copy it soon.

Anyway, here are the gradient nails I did.  They’re not perfect, but they’re not bad for a first attempt.

For these, I started with Essie’s To Buy or Not to Buy, and then sponged a mixture of TBONTB and Zoya Malia over the top.  An interesting effect of the sponging is that the shimmer in TBONTB is far more apparent than just brushing it on.  I’m really liking these, and will probably be wearing a lot of gradients this summer.

What do you think?  Are you a fan of gradient nails?  What’s your favorite color combination?
