Action is from Essie’s Poppy-Razzi collection. It’s a bright neon orange, but differs from most neon oranges in that it’s a relatively light color. I thought it would be my favorite of Essie’s neons, but I ended up liking the others more. I do really like this, it just honestly wasn’t what I was expecting.
I had expected Action to be the color in the picture below. This is what most swatches you’ll see online look like. But Action is impossible to photograph accurately, at least with my camera. I think it’s the combo of orange (my camera’s least favorite color) and neon. I tried to adjust the photo to be more accurate (which is why my skin is purple), but I still couldn’t get the color right. You have to see this one in person.
The other reason this one is not my favorite is it is a streaky mess. My bottle was unmanageably thick, so I put a few drops of thinner in, which lightened the color, something that has never happened to me before. The formula is now a little better, but still requires about two coats over white, which is what’s shown here. It dries semi-matte, but I added a topcoat to even everything out.
I’m going to experiment with this a little more – I think I might try it over black, and I’ll try to keep you updated.
ETA: It closely resembles this orange, at least on my computer screen, hope that helps!
Has anyone else tried this? What did you think?
