LDTTWC Day 6: They sure don’t make ’em like they used to!

Day 6 in the Time Warp challenge is a mani inspired by an old fashioned toy or game.  My first thought was to go with the Slinky, but I ended up choosing one of my favorite board games: Candyland!  I’ve always loved Candyland (except for the new version that’s missing my favorite character: Plumpy).  I’ve always loved the game, and I think the board is super fun.  It was designed in 1945 and published by Milton Bradley in 1949.  And it was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame (who knew that existed?) in 2005.

Thumb to pinky: the logo (which smeared :(), Molasses Swamp, Gumdrop Mountains, Lollipop Woods, and Snowflake Lake (with the board squares over all of them).  I used a picture of the original Candyland board as inspiration, and was surprised to find none of the characters on it!  After some research, I found out that the characters weren’t introduced until the 80s & 90s.  I’ll still always think of Plumpy, Princess Lolly, Grandma Nutt, Lord Licorice, and Gloppy when I think of Candyland 🙂

Sorry this post is short, and late, but I hope you like it anyway!

Be sure to check out all the day 6 manis from the other Time Warp challenge participants:
