What Wizardry is This?

I finally caved and bought a textured polish.  Actually I bought two, but this is the only one I really like.  It is called What Wizardry is This? and it’s from the new Oz: The Great and Powerful collection from OPI.  I love that it seems to be more metallic and shimmery than the super glittery textured polishes from the Mariah Carey collection (and even the Zoya ones, which all seem to have silver glitter in them).  I also really love the blackened bronze color.  I definitely think I prefer darker textured polishes for some reason –  can’t wait to get my hands on Vesper from the new Bond Girls collection.

Unless you apply super thin coats, this takes a really long time to dry (and fast-drying topcoat would ruin the finish), so I would definitely recommend thinner coats with this.  I did three here, but you might be able to get away with two.

It’s definitely textured, but not as much as I thought it would be.  Kind of like a fine grit sandpaper or a coarse nail file.  In the light, the texture is more obvious and it kind of reminds me of the China Glaze microglitters (I’m Not Lion, Champagne Kisses, etc.).

What do you think about the new textured polish trend?  I’m not completely on board yet, but I do really like the subtler versions (I also want to try the Nails Inc. Leather Effect polishes).  The other textured polish I got is Zoya Godiva, which I thought I would love, but I’m still on the fence about it.

If you’ve tried any textured polishes, what are your favorites?  I know there are a lot out there (Nails Inc, OPI, Zoya, Milani, Orly), and I would like to try a few different versions.
