I while ago, I went to see this exhibit at Bower’s Museum. Ok, I really went to see the Treasures of the Medici exhibit, completely unaware that they were featuring the Tsar’s Cabinet. I was completely fascinated by the intricate designs (including several authentic Faberge eggs!), and they stuck with me.
There was one set of china that particularly stuck in my mind. They were white plates trimmed in gold, with cobalt blue flowers around the edges, so that’s what I tried to replicate in this manicure. I think it turned out pretty well, even though any nail art I could ever do would never hold a candle to the art in that exhibit. I’m still in awe over the detail that was put into these objects. Seriously, just type in the Tsar’s Cabinet into Google images.
I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Essie Good as Gold, and Nina Ultra Pro Cobalt (which sadly doesn’t photograph accurately – it’s most like the darker spots – but trust me, it’s gorgeous – you need it).
Hope you all liked these as much as I do! I still have a few other designs in mind from the other artifacts in the exhibit, so hopefully I will get those done eventually (perhaps a museum inspired series?). Thanks for reading!
