…Ok, not really. I just really love Adele and thought I’d get fancy with post names today. As I think I already mentioned, I love James Bond, so when I saw this stamping plate from Vivid Lacquer, I had to get it. And it is amazing!
I used OPI Skyfall on four of my nails (because I couldn’t not use a polish from the Bond Collection), and Nails Inc. Porchester Square on my index finger. I used Vivid Lacquer plate 007 (fitting, no?) and Sinful Colors Black on Black to stamp the iconic James Bond image.
I would highly recommend Vivid Lacquer plates. I only have three, and I use them more than any of my other 100+ plates. They’re really high quality, especially for an indie brand, and stamp better than most of my Bundle Monster plates. You can find them in the Vivid Lacquer Etsy shop.
I’ve been meaning to use the script image off the Vivid Lacquer plate VL005 since I got it, but for some reason, my stamping has been really terrible lately. So I decided to just do an accent nail – less chances of messing it up. I think it turned out really well! Definitely one of my favorite stamping images!
For the accent nail, I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and Sinful Colors Black on Black stamped with plate VL005. The rest of my nails are Zoya Natty. I wanted a muted dark (but not too dark) color, and Natty was perfect!
I know I’ve said it before, but I love my Vivid Lacquer plates! The detail on this image in particular is amazing, and they stamp really well. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you should. They are available in the Vivid Lacquer Etsy shop.
If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you might have noticed my small love of houndstooth. It is easily my favorite pattern right now. I love that it is both graphic and classic, and can be done in almost any color combination. You may also have noticed that I tend to do houndstooth accent nails because 1. most stamping plates are too small for my thumbs (sad face) and 2. I do not have the skill or patience for freehanding small patterns like this on all my nails. Enter Vivid Lacquer and her awesome giant stamping designs:
Please ignore my shoddy stamping here, I’m honestly not that great at it, and for some reason the gold polish was not my friend (possibly because it is unusually cold out right now). The base color is OPI Live and Let Die (who doesn’t love a one coat dark green with flakes?). I stamped the houndstooth using Essie Good as Gold and Vivid Lacquer plate VL005.
I would 100% recommend Vivid Lacquer plates to anyone looking for awesome designs, but especially to those of you, who, like me, have wider nails. I was pleasantly surprised by how unique the designs on the VL plates are (the plates I own include an incredible knit-stitch pattern, tetras, and some gorgeous Latin script). I will definitely be buying more of them soon!
I will try to do a more detailed review in the next few weeks (possibly in video form..)
