Kizuna

This is the fifth and final polish in Windestine’s Little Women collection.  I am not a huge fan of the color brown, so I honestly didn’t think I’d like this one.  But like any good hoarder, I had to buy them all, and I am really glad I did!

kizuna

Kizuna is a cool brown jelly with green and purple glitter and copper shimmer.  The glitter mix is pretty much identical to that of Windestine Hydrangeas (which you can see in a super old post here).  The base is a bit sheer, so I found a polish that matches perfectly, China Glaze Foie Gras, and layered it under two coats of Kizuna.

Like I said, I’m not a huge fan of brown, but I have to admit I really love this! It reminds me of a sparkly forest.  I definitely see me wearing Kizuna a lot this fall.

Prima Donna

Prima Donna is the fourth polish in Windestine’s Little Women collection.  It is the simplest of the bunch, but it might just be my favorite.

prima donna

My index and pinky fingers have three coats of Prima Donna, which is a bright coral jelly with periwinkle glitter.  The rest of my nails are China Glaze Fade into Hue, with Essie Come Here stamped using bundle monster plate 323.

I absolutely love the color combination here.  And to be completely honest, I didn’t think I would really like it when I first saw it.  But I am kind of obsessed.

Peacekeeper

Today I have the third polish from Windestine’s Little Women Collection.  This one is called Peacekeeper and it is beautiful.

peacekeeper

Peacekeeper is a light gray jelly with white gold shimmer and pink and purple glitter.  It reminds me a little bit of Windestine’s Snow Prince.  The accent nails here are China Glaze Tart-y for the Party, which I thought would look nice with the purple glitters.

I really do love this one!  Maybe because, in addition to history, literature, or geek-themed collections, I also have a weakness for white (or close to it) jelly bases with delicately colored glitters.  Either way, this one is really pretty!

Tomboy

Tomboy is the second polish from Windestine’s Little Women collection.  I’m a huge fan of navy polish for fall, and this one is a perfect sparkly option.  So pretty!

tomboy

Tomboy is a deep blue jelly polish with blue, green, and copper glitter.  I used three coats here.  Formula is a little thick, but not too bad.  I used OPI Brisbane Bronze as accent nails to bring out the copper glitter in Tomboy.

Windestine is one of my favorite indie brands, and I am loving the Little Women collection!  I can’t wait to show you the rest of the collection 🙂

Heartbeat

When I saw that Windestine had released a collection inspired by Little Women, I immediately headed over to her Etsy shop and purchased all of them.  I have a serious weakness for nail polish inspired by anything historical or literary.  This is Heartbeat, which I knew would be one of my favorites as soon as I saw the bottle.

heartbeat

Heartbeat is a dark purple jelly with pink and copper microglitter (or very coarse shimmer).  It’s beautiful and perfect and the formula is great.  It is a bit sheer, so I layered two coats over OPI Vant to Bite My Neck?, which matches the base color perfectly.  On my index and pinky nails, I used Bundle Monster plate 317 to stamp the heart pattern starting with Sally Hansen Insta-Dry Cinna-Snap (which you can barely see), and then Essie Penny Talk.

Heartbeat is definitely a classic Windestine color.  I absolutely love when she uses small glitters, and her jelly/glitter color combos are always flawless.  Stay tuned for the other four polishes in this collection!

On a Clear Night

I’ve got another Windestine polish for you today!  This one is called On a Clear Night, and it is definitely one of my favorites.  I am always amazed at the combinations Freda (Windestine’s creator) puts together.  They might be subtle, but they are always unique.

on a clear night

On a Clear Night is a black jelly with rainbow shimmer.  It’s hard to pick out specific colors, but it seems to be heavy on the purple, and is mostly cool-toned.  I actually really love that the shimmer is actually multicolored, not holographic.  It’s not as flashy as holo shimmer, but it is definitely gorgeous!

The formula is ok.  This is really sheer, and requires 3-4 coats for opacity.  Once you get to the third coat, it really wants to drag, so you have to be careful.  However, I think this would look just as great with 1-2 coats over a black creme, so that’s probably how I’ll wear it next time.  Here I used 3 coats with topcoat.

On a Clear Night, along with the Spring collection, will be available starting February 20th in Windestine’s Etsy shop.

Windestine Spring Collection

Today I have Windestine’s brand new Spring collection!  It consists of three glitter filled jelly polishes that are perfectly spring-appropriate.  All swatches are three coats with topcoat.  Make sure to check out the micro shots at the end of the post!

First up, Crushed Rose in Spring:

Crushed Rose in Spring is an alteration of one of the polishes from Windestine’s previous collection, Crushed Rose.  It’s the exact same glitter, but in a gorgeous green base.  One of the reasons I love Windestine so much is that she is so good at mixing the base color.  The green is really a great shade.  The glitter consists of yellow, white, and pink hexes as well as some white shards.  It definitely resembles a spring garden!

Next is Rainy Day Blues:

I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of bar glitter.  In the bottle, I thought this would be my least favorite of the three.  And then I put it on.  I was completely shocked by how much I absolutely love this!  It is just so beautiful.  It gives the impression of glistening, slightly murky water.  I love, love, love, love Rainy Day Blues!  If you like blue polishes, this is a must-have.

And last, but not least, Leilani:

Leilani is definitely my favorite of the three, if only because I love the base color so much.  I’ve been looking for a polish this exact shade of coral, but I hadn’t found one I liked until Leilani.  It is filled with small glitter in various pastel shades.  LOVE.  This is definitely one of my favorite indies ever.  It really needs to be seen in person to fully appreciate just how gorgeous this shade is.

Here are some micro shots so you can see the glitters in each polish:

The Spring collection will be available on February 20 in Windestine’s Etsy shop.
