Fall Leopard

I really cannot get enough of how amazing these polishes from the Essie Fall Collection look together!  Once I saw them, I knew I had to use them together.  I don’t do leopard print that often, but I thought it would look really great with these colors.

All of the colors I used are from Essie’s Fall 2014 collection: The Perfect Cover-UP (dark teal), Fall in Line (green), and Take it Outside (gray).  The stud is from Born Pretty Store.

Animal print is not really my thing, but I think these turned out really good!  I actually enjoyed wearing them a lot.  What’s your favorite fall print?

Yellow and Blue

Getting real creative with the post titles over here – can you tell?

I really liked my last skittle mani, so I tried it again.  Only with fewer colors.  I definitely like this better.  Having seen approximately a million skittle (or kitchen sink – whatever you want to call them) manis over the past few years, I’ve learned that I like skittle manis that pick either an animal print or a floral and mix it in with geometric patterns.  I love how they look together (and not just on my nails).

Here I used a base of Sally Hansen Ion and then painted the designs using OPI Don’t Talk Bach to Me and OPI Incognito in Sausalito (I can’t believe I almost passed on that one).

Have you tried skittle manis?  Any tricks, or pattern combinations that you like?

I Tried a Skittle…

This is my attempt at a skittle mani.  I may have used too many colors, but I think it turned out ok.  I’m not completely sold on the color combo, but it is definitely something a little different for me.  Also – believe it or not – this is my first leopard print!  I can’t believe I’ve never done one before.

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, OPI Black Onyx, OPI Jade is the New Black, China Glaze Fade into Hue, and Sephora by OPI Hippo to be Square.

I think I need a little more practice with skittles – and maybe to try one with two or three colors instead of five – but this isn’t bad for my first shot.  I do think the leopard print turned out surprisingly well – I wasn’t expecting my first try to actually resemble leopard spots.  What do you think?

Day 13 – Animal Print – Giraffe

I LOVE how these turned out!  I wanted to do something a little different for animal print day, and even though I’ve seen these before a few times, I decided to do giraffe print nails.  I think these are super cute, and I will definitely be doing them again!

They were super easy to do – I used a short striping brush for the spots.  Even better, they’re not that easy to mess up because you want the spots to be imperfect.  For those of you who like stamping, I’ve seen stamping used to get the same result (I don’t know the plate, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find).

I used Zoya Pippa as a base with Essie Very Structured for the spots.
