I have a slightly ridiculous collection of green nail polishes, so it was a bit difficult to decide which ones to wear today. Ultimately, I decided on one of my new favorites and added a simple design and some glitter. Honestly, I’m not entirely happy with it, but I was too tired for anything else.
The base is Color Club Wild Cactus, which is a bit darker and brighter in person. I don’t have anything even close in my stash, so it’s definitely worth a look if you like greens. The glitter is China Glaze Pine-ing for Glitter, and I painted the word “luck” with Essie Blossom Dandy from Essie’s new spring collection.
Hope you all have a great St. Patrick’s Day!
P.S. I have a cool announcement coming soon, so keep an eye out for that! If you follow me on Instagram (@thepolishsquirrel), you might know what it is already.
Happy 4th of July everyone! I’m super excited to have a four day weekend, so I thought I’d finally get around to doing some nail art. These are pretty simple stars and stripes, but I gave them a little twist with the colors.
I used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Sally Hansen Pacific Blue (the old/real one), and Essie Chubby Cheeks. I kind of like the muted/faded effect it gives, while still being pretty bright.
Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone! Hope you’re all having a good Monday. I wanted to do some nail art for today, and after going through my (rather large) collection of green nail polish, I decided to do something simple using a few of my favorites.
I started with a base of China Glaze Four Leaf Clover (because how could I not use that one?), and then painted the ikat-ish chevrons with Essie Mojito Madness and Essie Stylenomics. I actually really like the color combo.
I really like how these turned out. If you’re celebrating St. Paddy’s Day on your nails today, share the link to your blog/instagram/twitter post in the comments below, I’d love to see them!
I’m back! Sorry for the extended absence. Short story: stuff happened. Slightly longer version: I’ve been dealing with insurance companies after someone hit my car on Black Friday, and as soon as that was over, my grandfather passed away, and honestly, I just haven’t been that into posting and didn’t want to force it. But, it’s Christmas, and that means nail art (right?), so I thought I’d try to get back into this blog. These aren’t that Christmassy, but I might try to get some red and green and sparkly going in the next two days. Or at least some snowflakes or something.
These nails were inspired by these by Mr. Candiipants. I seriously love her, and these are perfect! Most of the colors I used came from the Essie Winter collection, with OPI My Vampire is Buff as the base and a couple of Revlon polishes thrown in there. Love these colors!
Thank you all for continuing to read this blog! There was honestly a point that I considered just not coming back, and a big part of the reason I did was the friends I’ve met doing this. So thank you!
Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! I hope you all have a wonderful week with family and friends!
I LOVE these! I am still obsessed with bunting nails, and even though this is the third time I’ve done them, I am not in the least bit sick of doing them (which is really saying something, because I get tired of things pretty quickly). I love them so much, you guys get an extra picture today!
I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (if you don’t have this, hunt it down now – it is amazing). Then I painted on the little bunting flags with Nails Inc. Baker Street (another polish you all need – seriously), China Glaze Adventure Red-y, Essie Rock the Boat, and Essie Snap Happy.
They’re not perfect, but I really love them. I would be totally happy with these on my nails for the entire summer (ok, I’d maybe last a
month week, but you get the point). I will for sure be recreating these to wear tomorrow.
Send me links to your patriotic manis in the comments below!
And to all my American readers – Happy Independence Day! (Even though America became an independent country on July 2nd – not the 4th – and we celebrate on the wrong day.)
To everyone else – happy Wednesday!
I can’t believe it is already July! This year is going by so fast!
I needed to do some patriotic nail art this week, and this is my least favorite of the ones I’ve done so far. I’m not entirely happy with how these turned out. But I thought I’d show you anyway, since it’s not a complete fail. Just kind of meh.
The white (used for the stripes and stamping) is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On. The blue is Pure Ice French Kiss and the red is Orly Star Spangled. I used Cheeky plate CH51 for the stars.
I’ve already done one other 4th of July mani, and it is amazing! So look for that on Wednesday. And share your patriotic nails in the comments below! I’d love to see them. Have a good week everyone!
Happy Easter everyone (and happy Sunday to my non-Easter-celebrating readers)! I wanted to do something easter egg-esque this year, and thought it was a great opportunity to do an obnoxiously springy pastel mani. Hope you like it!
I used China Glaze Lemon Fizz, OPI Do You Lilac it?, Essie Boxer Shorts, Essie Mint Candy Apple, and Essie Where’s my Chauffeur?. I tried to paint patterns reminiscent of old-school easter eggs. I really like how it turned out! I think my favorite nails are the index and pinkie.
This whole color combo has me really excited for more spring nails. I’ve been really busy with work (and computer problems) lately, but I have some great posts and even some tutorials planned. And I will try to get back into monthly hauls and maybe favorites in April!
I wanted to do something sparkly for New Year’s Eve, but I didn’t want just solid glitter. I’ve always done more silvery colors, but this year, I thought I’d go with a black and gold combo. I think they turned out great, and I’ve been staring at my nails all day. Just because I’m home sick in my PJs doesn’t mean I can’t dress up a little.
I used Essie Licorice and China Glaze Champagne Kisses. I really love the color of Champagne Kisses! It’s almost a rose gold, and it’s a bit more subtle than a traditional bright gold.
The thumbs are my favorite! I am definitely doing this “middle” glitter gradient again!
What are you wearing on your nails for New Years?
I hope you all have a fun and safe night! Happy New Year Everyone!!!
I had planned on sharing this yesterday, but Christmas stuff got in the way. I still wanted to show you the polish I wore on Christmas because it’s awesome and it’s currently available (so you can snatch it up for next year). I’ve actually collected quite a few Christmas polishes, but this one is my favorite! It’s called Holidays in Hogsmeade and it’s from Lac Attack’s Magical Musings Collection. Yes, they are Harry Potter themed. And yes, I bought all of them. I literally cannot resist the combination of Harry Potter and nail polish. No joke.
Holidays in Hogsmeade (side note: wouldn’t that be the BEST Christmas ever???) is a glitter topcoat made up of different sizes of red and green glitter and some white glitter. All the glitters are matte, which makes it even more awesome. I could not decide what color to put under it, and Anastasia, from Lac Attack, suggested silver or gold. I chose OPI Glitzerland, and I ended up absolutely loving this! So festive and I got lots of compliments!
Here’s a bottle shot so you can see the glitters:
Lac Attack polishes are available for purchase here. Holidays in Hogsmeade is available in a full sized bottle for $8 or a mini bottle for $4.25. You can also purchase full or mini sizes of the entire Magical Musings collection as a set. Most of them are currently sold out, but according to Anastasia, these shades aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, so keep your eyes peeled for a restock!
Hopefully I will get swatches of the rest of the collection up soon!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! I wish all my readers a (slightly belated) Merry Christmas! Let me know what your favorite gift was (and what nail polishes you got) or how you celebrated – I always love hearing from you 🙂
I’m not all that great at painting faces on my nails, so this was a bit of a challenge for me. I ended up finding this tutorial and just going with that. Other than taking kind of a long time, these nails were pretty easy.
The base on all my nails is Zoya Harley, which I just discovered and now love! For me, silver polish can be a bit too flashy, so this is definitely perfect for those days that call for silver nails. For Rudolph, I used Sinful Colors Black on Black, Sally Hansen Slick Slate, Essie Beyond Cozy, and China Glaze Ruby Pumps.
Isn’t he cute?
I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of the challenge, and Christmas eve! I still haven’t decided which mani I’m recreating for tomorrow, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!
