Toy Story

To close out Pixar Week, I decided to go with the first movie they ever made – Toy Story.  I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love this movie.  Again, I’m not that great at painting faces yet, so I just went with their clothing, but I think it’s pretty clear what it’s supposed to be.  I think my favorite is the “Andy” nail, that one turned out really well.  I also really like the clouds – those would make a great mani on their own.

Thumb to pinky: the “Andy” on the bottom of Woody’s boot, Woody, Buzz, the distinctive clouds, and one of the little aliens.

Sorry about the cleanup on these! I didn’t really notice until I was editing the picture, and by then I had taken them off.

So what did you think about Pixar Week?  I think it was a success!  Maybe in a month or so I’ll do another theme week – I have a few ideas, I just need time to get them together.

Finding Nemo

Today’s nail art is Finding Nemo!  These took me forever to do.  My original idea was to do some sort of water marble with blues and then paint over it, but it just wasn’t happening.  So I settled on these.  I went a little bit abstract with these, using mostly patterns from the characters.  I love how they turned out!  The Squirt and seagull nails are my favorites 🙂

From thumb to pinky: seagull (mine! mine! mine!), Squirt (the turtle), Nemo (or Marlin), Dory, and the baby jellyfish (aka Squishy)

“I shall call him Squishy, and he shall be mine, and he shall be my Squishy”

I hope you’re all enjoying Pixar Week so far!  There’s only one more day left, but I have a few ideas for more theme weeks in the future.  If you have any suggestions, or you’d like to do one with me, let me know!

P.S. We might be getting Finding Nemo 2… in 2016.  I don’t think I can wait that long!

I love Wall-E.  I think it’s a really cute movie.  And I’ve been meaning to do some Wall-E nail art, and Pixar week was the perfect time.

From thumb to pinky: the logo, Eva, Wall-E (he looks really off, sorry guys!), the leaf/plant logo, and the blank space I meant to put the little cockroach, but got distracted and forgot.

Most of the colors are mixes (or just white), but the background on all the nails is Sonia Kashuk Starry Night, which I love!  So glad I have access to Target again!

I don’t think this is my best nail art, but I still think it’s cute.  Maybe I’ll attempt Wall-E again someday when I have more time.

Only two more days to go in Pixar week!  Which one’s your favorite so far?

A Bug’s Life

I love A Bug’s Life! I have watched this movie more times than I can count.  Pixar has always released very original films, and this one is no exception.  I really like that, especially in an industry that is pretty much sticking to comic books and remakes these days.

I am terrible at actually painting characters (I need more practice, but didn’t have enough time this time), so I painted the tops of the character’s heads poking out through holes in the leaves.  Whatever, it works, kinda.

From thumb to pinky: Flik, Francis, Heimlich, Dot (or Atta), and Slim.

Even though I didn’t paint him (thought I’d stick with the good guys), my favorite character in this film is actually Hopper.  I think he’s just a well-written villain (especially for an animated film), and I think Kevin Spacey is perfect as Hopper’s voice.  So yeah.

Anyway, hope you like them!  What’s your favorite character from the movie?

For some reason, since I was little, I’ve always loved rats (I always wanted to have one as a pet) and I love cooking, so naturally, Ratatouille is one of my favorite movies.   And yes, I can make ratatouille.  I like making it the way Remy does in the movie rather than the traditional way – it’s so pretty!

Anyway, I had to include Ratatouille in Pixar week, so here it is:

I did these a while ago, so I don’t remember exactly which polishes were used, but I can probably figure it out if anyone wants to know.  Sorry about the horrible clean-up on these!

From thumb to pinky: the logo, Remy’s shadow in the chef’s hat, Remy looking out the window at the (deformed) Eiffel tower, ingredients going into a pot, and, of course, cheese!

Hope you like them! I’m really loving Pixar week so far 🙂

If you are what you eat, then I only want to eat the good stuff. – Remy

Monsters Inc.

For the second day of Pixar week, I have Monsters Inc. nail art!  This one looked a little better in real life, but I still really liked the way it turned out.  The colors are so fun and bright.

Monsters Inc. is definitely pretty high up on my favorite Pixar movies list.  I love it!  I actually got to go to a pre-screening of this when I was in sixth grade (I think).  Definitely one of the highlights of elementary school for me 🙂

From thumb to pinky: the Monsters Inc. logo, Mike Wazowski, Sully, Boo’s door, and Boo.

I used a ton of polishes, and some of them were mixed together, so I won’t list them, but if you must know what they are, I’m pretty sure I remember, so just ask.

Also, I am super excited for the prequel that is coming out next year!  Here’s the trailer if you haven’t already seen it.  I think it looks awesome!

It’s Pixar Week!

I’ve been planning this for a while – ever since Lucy over at Nail Days suggested the iconic Pixar lamp would make awesome nail art.  Thanks Lucy!  I love how these turned out (although it’s really hard for me to get my thumb into that position – I have short fingers).

Anyway, I was a bit uninspired after completing the 31 day nail art challenge, so I’ve decided to do an entire week of Pixar-movie themed nails as a way to get back into nail art.  If it goes well, I have a few other theme weeks already planned (and if you’re a nail blogger and want to do one with me, let me know!).

Today counts as day one of Pixar week, so naturally I had to do the logo.  I actually really love the little lamp animation, and I really love how these turned out!  And for the next six days, I am going to be posting nail art inspired by some of my favorite Pixar movies!  I’ve already done Up! so it won’t be included in this round, but it is one of my favorite Pixar movies 🙂

I hope you like all the nail art this week!

What’s your favorite Pixar?
