I love green and blue nail polish year round, but in the fall I really gravitate towards navy and emerald. Over the past few years, I’ve amassed a nice collection of emerald polishes. I usually have about a million bottles of nail polish sitting on my desk and any given time (I’m really bad about putting them away after I use them), and these two colors happened to be sitting next to each other and I thought they would look amazing together.
I used one of my favorite green creme polishes as a base – OPI Jade is the New Black. It was one of my first purchases when I really started getting into nail polish a few years ago, and I just keep going back to it. Then using a Bundle Monster plate (which I cannot find right now), I stamped a shattered design on my thumb, middle, and pinky fingers and it’s reverse on my index and ring fingers using SpaRitual Rhythm of Life. I love how there is just a hint of the shimmer here, even though Rhythm of Life is borderline metallic on his own.
What is your favorite fall color?
I’m not a huge fan of matte nail polish. But, I do wear it occasionally (mostly to tone down glitter). I’m one of those “why get a ton of matte polishes when you can just get the topcoat?” people, partially because I’ve had awful (insane chipping) experiences with matte polishes. But, I’ve always disliked how matte topcoats kind of make dark polishes lighter and cloudy-ish. So when I saw this polish in T J Maxx, I thought I’d give it a try. And I ended up kind of loving it. As much as I can love a matte polish.
On three of my fingers is SpaRitual Body, which is a matte black polish. It is super black, super matte, and super smooth. Up until now, I’ve hated applying matte polishes. They’re hard to work with, and get clumpy too easily. But Body was one of the smoothest polishes I’ve ever applied. I will definitely be looking for more SpaRitual mattes (if there are any).
I happened to have purchased Revlon Elusive the day before, and was surprised to find that it was also matte. While I actually like this one a little better with topcoat, I thought I’d combine the two, since they’re the only two matte polishes I own that I actually like. It was hard to photograph, but it’s a black polish with green and teal glitter. So pretty!
Military is always a big trend for fall, and it’s definitely one of my favorites. So this year, I thought I’d try it out on my nails. I love these colors together – they are definitely fall appropriate. And I need all the “fall” I can get in this heat wave.
I used OPI Uh-Oh, Roll Down the Window (awesome name, right?) as my base. The stamping was done with Mash plate 42 and SpaRitual Slate. The color block nails were done with scotch tape and SpaRitual Slate. And the glitter on my middle finger is Windestine Girl With the Best Smile.
I really love the color block nails – definitely something i need to try again (even though I ripped my polish off on the first two attempts).
I created this manicure on a whim, because I found some makeup sponges in a drawer (I thought I was out) and wanted to use some of my new polishes. So I randomly sponged on some metallic and shimmer polishes, and I think it turned out really pretty. The colors remind me of a sparkly forest – I love this combo!
I started with OPI Black Onyx and then sponged on Essie For the Twill of It, SpaRitual Howl, and SpaRitual Rhythm of Life.
I really like these colors together. They’re still dark and shimmery and vampy, but still really interesting.
Lately I’ve been in the mood for all things fall (despite the 90+ degree weather), which means pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, and fall colors on my nails. While I try to experiment with different nail trends each year, I inevitably find myself drawn to grays, jewel tones, vampy metallics, and warm orangey browns (think burnt pumpkin). So I’m always looking out for colors like this, and I think it may be a favorite this year.
For the base, I used SpaRitual Death by Chocolate, and then stamped Essie Good as Gold using Bundle Monster plate 210. It needed a little something extra, so I added some studs to my thumb and pinky nails. I love how the gold polish and studs look together.
