I’ve been a bit uninspired lately when it comes to nail art, so I decided to branch out a bit and ended up getting these turquoise cabochon studs. I think they are gorgeous, and I love how these nails turned out!
I used OPI Black Onyx as a base for these nails. The turquoise studs and round silver studs are actually both from Born Pretty Store. I just attached them with using a coat of topcoat. I used a wax pencil (also from Born Pretty Store) to pick up and place the stones. I’ve been using it for a while in my nail art, and I have to say: it is sooo much better than tweezers or a dotting tool! If you use any kind of nail embellishments, I’d highly recommend getting one because it makes placing stones or studs a breeze!
If you’re interested in the turquoise studs, you can purchase them here (they come in a wheel with three different shapes and four different colors). The round silver studs (which also come with gold ones) can be found here. And you can get the wax pencil here (I’ve tried both kinds on the Born Pretty Store Website, and while they’re both good, I prefer this one, which has a softer, clear wax).
And don’t forget to use code PSQW10 for 10% of your Born Pretty Store order! Let me know what you get in the comments!

I am a huge fan of Game of Thones (both the books and the movies) and I am crazy excited for the start of season five today! I usually end up missing the opportunity to do nail art for the premiere, but not this time! (I did use a GoT-themed polish two years ago.) I put together some nail art based off of this season five poster, and added in a nod to my favorite house (partially because the season slogan – Vengeance is Coming – wouldn’t fit on my nails).
I used OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy? as the base for all the black nails, and Cult Cosmetics El Matador as the base on the red accent nail. The Game of Thrones logo was painted with OPI Haven’t the Foggiest – I love that it’s a darker silver, but still sparkly. For the rose, I used white acrylic paint (and a bit of black mixed in for shading) and Essie Head Mistress for the Blood. The Targaryen house motto – Fire and Blood – was painted with black acrylic paint. And the silver triangle studs are from Bundle Monster. I topped it all off with OPI Matte Topcoat.
I am completely obsessed with how these turned out! Acrylic paint is definitely upping my nail art game. I’ve been practicing with painting words on my nails, but this is the first time I’ve attempted a script, and I’m honestly really surprised it doesn’t look like a huge blob. If only I was ambidextrous…
I haven’t made it all the way through the books yet, so I’m not sure what to expect this season, but I can’t wait! Let me know what you’re most excited about for this season in the comments below! I’m definitely ready for some more Tyrion Lannister and Jon Snow.
I am crazy excited for the Veronica Mars movie. I has a fan of the show back in high school, and I still have Veronica Mars marathons once in a while. I’m going to see the movie with my little sister tomorrow, so I thought I’d do some VM inspired nails.
I knew I definitely wanted to go with a VM signature: black leather. I used Nails Inc. Noho on three of my nails, and then added studs from Born Pretty Store. My other two nails are Essie Stylenomics, because I liked the idea of the dark forest green with the black leather. It looked less black in person.
Any other Marshmallows out there? If you’ve seen the movie, what did you think? I can’t wait!
Lately I’ve been in the mood for all things fall (despite the 90+ degree weather), which means pumpkin spice lattes, sweaters, and fall colors on my nails. While I try to experiment with different nail trends each year, I inevitably find myself drawn to grays, jewel tones, vampy metallics, and warm orangey browns (think burnt pumpkin). So I’m always looking out for colors like this, and I think it may be a favorite this year.
For the base, I used SpaRitual Death by Chocolate, and then stamped Essie Good as Gold using Bundle Monster plate 210. It needed a little something extra, so I added some studs to my thumb and pinky nails. I love how the gold polish and studs look together.
Do you gravitate towards certain colors in the fall? What are your favorite trends this year?
